About the Job



Position
This is a 100% time, nonexempt, continuing Civil Service in the Law School's Finance Department. This position reports to the Law School's Finance Manager. This position is mostly in-person with some flexibility to work remotely.

Salary
Salary is dependent upon experience and qualifications. The salary range is $55,000 - $65,000.

Responsibilities
Financial - 60% (Sponsored and Non-Sponsored Accounting)
Complete a variety of accounting functions, which includes capitalizing assets, reconciling account strings; transferring funds; setting up new accounts and/or grants; monitoring fund balances and preparing status reports. Activities may involve data from multiple departments or colleges.
Advise faculty, staff, and students on proper accounting procedures in the purchase, sale or exchange of goods and services. Attend school and staff meetings as necessary.
Reconcile and maintain University general ledger ensuring that financial transactions meet all university, federal and sponsor guidelines. Investigate discrepancies and correct.
Prepare journal entries for processing.
Maintain financial files for assigned portfolio, which may include sponsored projects with supporting documentation and grant correspondence.
Assist with school's budgets into PeopleSoft and position budgeting.
Create regular financial reports, including projections for multiple funding types. Assist Administrator/PIs with report interpretation and identify trends and possible solutions.
Advise schools faculty and staff regarding issues, explain financial policies, and recommend solutions to problems.
Assist in the coordination of fiscal year-end close procedures.
Ensure entry of financial documents is in compliance with University Policy
Financial Systems - 30% (Preparing, Approving and Process Items)
Serves as the procurement specialist, accounts payables and receivables lead for assigned departments and accounts.
Serve as Billing Specialist for the Law School and Law Library in preparing and entering invoices (including Foundation draws) in the Enterprise Financial System.
Manage and control business document workflow; including preparing, processing and approving of vouchers, employee reimbursements, contracts, purchase orders, journal entries,
purchasing cards, and deposits ensuring financial activity is in compliance with University policy and recorded accurately.
Group post payments in Student Financials for seat deposits, locker rentals and other needs as they arise.
Act as expert for Law School users of Destiny One Registration System (DORS).
Act as Conference Manager and Enrollment Manager for assigned DORS user departments.
Act as the Chrome River Navigator for the Law School and be the system expert for Chrome River.
Misc Duties as Assigned (10%)
Maintain membership in key financial and administrative groups at the University.
Serve as payroll and finance backup to other Services staff; including ensuring office is running efficiently.
Hire, train, schedule, and provide feedback on job performance to student workers. Supervise projects and tasks given to student workers, ensure they complete work correctly.
Serve as backup to the Law Library Finance department.
Assist throughout Law School Departments as needed (i.e. exam proctoring and conference assistance).
Support Finance Manager with miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
Maintain and complete continuing education and professional development as needed.

Qualifications



Required: Completed BA/BS degree plus at least two years of professional accounting work, or a combination of education and experience to equal six years.
