About the Job



Responsibilities:
1.Receives, prepares specimens for analysis. Performs combination of various serological procedures such as ELISA,
hemagglutination inhibition, serum neutralization, agar gel immunodiffusion, and agglutination based assays for detection of
antibodies against several bacterial/viral/parasitic pathogens causing diseases in domestic and wild animals. Serve as back up for these
tests as needed. Able to perform assigned work independently after being trained completely with senior technician(s) in the
laboratory (65%).

2. Maintains laboratory data generated from running the serological assays through paper and/or computer based
records (10%).

3.Maintains chemicals and kit inventories for the tests assigned. Prepares reagents/solutions for these tests as needed. Notifies to order
supplies as needed. May perform ordering as needed. Operates and maintains laboratory equipment used in different tests.
Keeps clean and orderly laboratory environment including disposal of bio hazardous and chemical wastes as per Department of
Environmental Health and Safety and laboratory guidelines (10%).

4.Trained in Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures; performs procedures and maintains documentation according to existing
QA/QC standards including use of computer based QA/QC programs; actively follows QA/QC related policies and procedures
(15%).

BA/BS or a combination of relevant scientific education/experience totaling 4 years.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a laboratory setting, familiarity with common serology assays e.g. ELISA
