Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I-FLOW CYTOMETRY CORE FACILITY, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, to provide support for over 160 groups engaged in cancer and other research across MIT. Will be responsible for operating, training, and maintaining flow cytometer analyzers and sorters, including daily quality control and data management; supporting scheduling needs; collaborating with team members on problem-solving; handling technical and administrative tasks; maintaining a clean and safe work area; and sometimes performing duties normally engaged in by those working at lower levels.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone who can use independent judgment and is interested in working in a dynamic, team-oriented laboratory setting.  

Job Requirements
REQUIRED:  B.A./B.S. in biological, physical sciences, or a related field; at least two years of experience in a research laboratory environment; demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team; strong instrumentation skills; demonstrated attention to detail; self-motivation; excellent organizational, analytical, customer service, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; and an understanding of laboratory safety.  PREFERRED:  experience with BD analyzers and BD or Sony high-speed sorters.  Job #23714
