Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks to fill the position of Adjunct Faculty - Welding is located in the Division of Technical Education. This is a part-time position, and is open for recruitment.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Applicants must possess at least five (5) years of previous welding experience
  • Possess a current CWE Certified Welding Educator or commit to obtaining a CWE. 
  • Must be able to generate class materials and reports, as well as utilize best practices and proper planning. 
  • Must have excellent leadership, communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills. 
  • Must have an equivalent combination of education, training, and on-the-job experiences to provide students with the knowledge and skills to become successful welding technicians. 

Job Concepts

The Adjunct   Faculty - Welding  is responsible for the delivery of quality instruction to students enrolled in the Associate's Degree of Applied Science in Technical Studies – Welding Concentration. The incumbent will have knowledge of teaching methods, assessment techniques, outcomes, reporting documentation as required to maintain appropriate accreditation and to prepare students to enter the workforce as highly qualified welding technicians who meet industry standards.  Adjunct faculty members are responsible for teaching courses as assigned.  Adjunct faculty may teach in the evening, weekends, online, and dual enrollment courses as needed, at any of the college's approved sites.    
 
 This position may require up to 100% travel to Baton Rouge Community College's rural sites.

  • Maintain current AWS and NCCER certifications.
  • Ensure that the welding instruction conducted by BRCC will produce highly prepared students upon their successful completion of the classes.
  • Provide learning experiences in accordance with students' needs and abilities.
  • Meet all scheduled classes within the appropriate timeframe and provide opportunities for student conferences either online, by phone, or face-to-face.
  • Follow the approved master course syllabi.
  • Submit syllabi, office hours, grades, attendance, electronic time sheets, and other reports by established deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate grade and attendance records.
  • Assess student learning in accordance with college policy.
  • Manage all class materials and laboratory facilities to assure they are adequate for the requirements of the classes.
  • Assure that all Industry Based Certification (IBC) and accreditation requirements are maintained.
  • Establish and maintain a process to assure that all student files are up-to-date and complete.

  • Notify the dean of absence with course substitution plan in a timely manner.
  • Attend annual orientation.
  • Attend mandatory college and/or division meetings.
  • Adhere to professional standards of conduct.
  • Participate in the faculty evaluation process.
  • Discuss with counselors and other appropriate personnel regarding any student problems which may require special attention.
