Skookum is seeking an experienced Emergency Vehicle Technician.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
Performs maintenance of equipment to include, but not limited to, wheeled vehicles, track vehicles, engineer equipment, power generation, and material handling equipment.
Accomplish minor repairs and perform services as outlined in established technical manuals.
Perform inspection and repair on brakes, suspension, wheels, hubs, and steering systems.
Understand and follow technical manuals, lube orders, wiring and hydraulic schematics to ensure proper diagnosis and repair during annual services.
Perform major repair jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, removing components, removal and installation of assemblies and installation of components.
Maintain Operational Vehicle Maintenance schedules.
Responsible for various reports- i.e., schedules, training, attendance, evaluations, various employee documentations, correct time keeping, and accident reports.
Train employees on job tasks and assignments to ensure complete understanding of work assigned.
Monitor employee performance to ensure efficient use of time and performance of work tasks.
Coach, mentor and resolve employee concerns in a respectful and mutually beneficial manner.
Qualifications:
Certifications supporting EVT LVL 1 Fire Apparatus and ARFF Vehicle Technician to include ASE (T-2, T-4 through T-6) and EVT (F-1, F-2, and A-1).
Minimum 5 years' experience as an Automotive Mechanic is preferred; specialized vocational, technical, or other formal training may be substituted in part for experience.
Knowledgeable in maintenance of military vehicles and equipment.
Ability to read, understand, and follow technical manuals to ensure proper diagnosis and repair.
Ability to read and troubleshoot repairs on brakes, suspensions, wheels, hubs, and steering systems.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to use computers and computer software.
Physical Requirements:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
Requirements:
A valid CDL Class B preferred for moving vehicles around the shop area.
A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum's insurance. A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B is preferred. If a candidate has a valid CDL, must meet federal guidelines to be considered for this position - Department of Transportation (DOT) pre-employment drug screening, medical examination certification, and cleared query with the FMCSA Clearinghouse is required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
