Postion located in Pierre SD.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Commercial Driver’s License Class A - Manual required. Additional endorsements preferred.
- Associate’s degree in a related field a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of the trucking industry with a minimum of three years’ driving experience.
- Accident-free driving record with no violations preferred.
- Prior teaching and curriculum development experience a plus.
- Computer literate including knowledge of simulation software, learning management systems, and Microsoft programs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and an affinity for working with the public and Lake Area Tech staff.
- Flexibility in scheduling, including evening and weekend hours.
- Bi-lingual a plus.
- National Career Readiness Certificate Level Silver or higher a plus.
REPORTS TO: Director of Corporate Education, Director of Outreach, Vice President
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop a vision and implement strategies to grow the CDL program to meet workforce demands in conjunction with industry partners in Pierre, SD region.
- Instruction in all related theory and practical skills including for credit and non-credit courses.
- Curriculum development using innovative technology wherever possible.
- Manage and oversee the maintenance of truck.
- Coordinate Department of Transportation inspections.
- Attend and participate in Lake Area Tech advisory boards of programs utilizing CDL training to guide the direction of the program.
- Maintain a safe laboratory and classroom environment.
- Assist with developing and follow the program budget in cooperation with the department.
- Maintain inventory and equipment, including all related documentation.
- Assist with student recruitment and promotion of Lake Area Technical College.
- This position requires an individual with an entrepreneurial mindset, capable of identifying opportunities and building a base that serves the industry of the Pierre region.
- Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Part-time, temporary position. Could lead to permanent position pending customer demand.
$50 an hour up to 32 hours per week through June 30th. Contract may be reissued July 1st.
