Axient is seeking a Construction and Facility General Engineer to support the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) in Huntsville, AL. 

What you will do...

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a Construction and Facilities Engineer and Project Manager for the Deputy Chief of Staff Engineer (DCSENG), United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC) in Huntsville, Alabama.
  • Support the coordination, development, review, approval, and execution of related facility maintenance and modifications for US Government owned or leased properties.
  • Support the planning and execution of installation engineering solutions via inspection, review, and recommendations for efficient and rapid construction solutions.
  • Plan, monitor, and execute projects focusing on not only technical performance solutions, but also cost and schedule.
  • Monitor work of Contractors and other originations for Quality Assurance (QA), Critical Mission impacts, and Stakeholder coordination for activities in support of Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs.
  • Communicate with multiple organizations and levels of leadership on strategies for facility upgrades, maintenance, and repair.
  • Provide status to Integrated Product Team (IPT) members and program leadership as required.
  • Coordinate with the Space and Missile Defense Command stakeholders daily for adjustment of priorities and workflow organization.
  • Understand how to interpret and/or create Statements of Work (SOW).
  • Review and provide comments related to subcontractor support agreements and be able to incorporate ever changing mission requirements into daily workflow activities.
  • Assist SMDC, and other agencies, with engineering support and technical reach back from all disciplines: Civil, Electrical, Structural, Mechanical, Architectural, etc. 
  • Be able to read and interpret building drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Be able to inspect and provide QA guidance as work is being executed. 
  • Be willing to travel to Kwajalein Atoll and various other OCONUS locations.

Skills you will need...

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must possess an active and transferable DoD security clearance with current investigation.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering.
  • 10+ years of relevant work / job experience.
  • Experience in Program Management, knowledge of contract actions / SOWs / CDRLs and Integrated Master Schedules (IMS).
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the work of teams or task forces conducting comprehensive trade studies, technical projects, and problem resolution.
  • Develop strong working relationships and rapport with subordinate, peer, and management personnel within the home organization and with contemporary organizations and contract partners.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of DoD Installation Management activities and responsibilities.
  • Experience coordinating and monitoring performance of facility related maintenance and operations. Knowledge of and experience with the development, qualification, and maintenance for the reliability and sustainment of infrastructure.
  • Understanding of major and minor MILCON project management from Design Charrette through Final Design and the experience to provide insight to stakeholders.
  • Ability to assist the Government during design reviews on design packages for supported projects.
  • PMP, CCM, FMP or equivalent certification.
