Job Summary:

This position will coordinate and complete all medical billing and scheduling needs for the low vision clinic. Other duties ensuring complete and efficient flow for the Low Vision clinic may be assigned as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Maintain Insurance Billing and Insurance credentialing for all providers (OD and OT)

  • Compiling Insurance billing forms including superbills, insurance numbers, HIPPA forms, etc.
  • Problem solving denials of payment.
  • Communicating with TPA as needed for billing, denials, etc.
  • Maintaining insurance credentials for all providers through PECOS, Availity and other appropriate portals.
  • Obtaining further credentialing with other insurance groups and plans for current providers and any additional providers added to low vision clinic staff.
  • Obtain insurance pre-authorization as needed including obtaining any required documentation.

Create, fill and maintaining Low Vision Clinic schedule monthly.

  • Create schedule consisting of 60-90 appointments per month.
  • Scheduling of all appointments as records are reviewed by Low Vision Manager. Appointments should be filled as records are reviewed up to 4 months in advance.
  • Providing appointment reminders via phone calls for all appointments and directions to the agency as needed.
  • Arrange interpreter for appointments as needed including follow-up appointments.

Patient Registration

  • Serve as the first contact for clients coming into the Low Vision Clinic.
  • Copy insurance cards and be sure all required documentation is signed.

Documentation and Record Management

  • Be sure all required documentation is uploaded to CHOICE (Dynamics 365 CE).
  • Be sure statuses of appointments are maintained for statistics.
  • Create and send doctor letters to referring doctors for appropriate appointments.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum associate degree preferred or equivalent experience (3-5 years) with transferrable skill sets.
  • Prior medical billing certification strongly preferred
  • Experience must include 2+ years of Medical Billing Experience including obtaining appropriate credentialing for providers (Optometry and OT).
  • Experience working with populations with disabilities including older adults.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate with service providers and clients (Manage expectations).
  • Ability to navigate various software systems (Dynamics 365 CE and BC);Proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong data entry skills.
  • Ability to communicate in both written and verbal modes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Working with conflict to positive resolution.
