In this role, you will be a key member of Medtronic’s center-led Indirect Supply Management (ISM) team and will report to the Senior Sourcing Category Manager of Global Capital Equipment & Construction. This is a global category role that provides the opportunity to identify and execute value-driven strategies across many functions, regions, and businesses. These strategies will leverage Medtronic’s global scale to drive year-over-year value within the Capital Equipment (CapEx) and Construction space.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of quickly building and leveraging relationships in a matrixed environment, working collaboratively to ensure team performance, and successfully influencing a variety of stakeholders at all levels.

A Day in the Life

As the Sr. Strategic Sourcing Specialist, Capital Equipment & Construction , you will

· Identify strategies across the entire CapEx/Construction portfolio that utilize multiple levers/approaches to drive sustainable/incremental value.

· Build strategic relationships with internal stakeholders/leadership and critical suppliers.

· Engage and influence multiple stakeholders to adopt and implement strategies developed by the category team; Medtronic is a highly matrixed organization and having the ability to influence and leverage the matrix is a key requirement.

· Demonstrate Market Intelligence and share trends to ensure Medtronic is at the forefront of the CapEx acquisition space.

· Achieve (year-on-year) value improvements for all aspects of quality, service, innovation, and cost.

· Perform RF(x) events to drive competitive pressure and ensure maximum value is realized.

· Partner closely with key functions that support supply management (e.g., legal, finance, quality/compliance)

· Assist in Supplier Stratification activities and develop capability roadmaps.

· Lead contract negotiations

· Recommend solutions to business problems and/or identify opportunities for improvement, and present ideas to leadership.

· Educate on key indirect supply management initiatives and policies.

· Develop robust data gathering and data quality maintenance protocols to ensure spending transparency and support the development of a baseline for sourcing cost reduction efforts.

· Identify insourcing and outsourcing opportunities.

· Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement.

While we have a preference for candidates based in Minneapolis who are willing to work in a hybrid capacity, we welcome applications from candidates based in the US with the option for remote work opportunities.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

Nice to Have

• Ability to influence teams and external suppliers to deliver results

• Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI

• Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, communication, negotiation, tact, judgment, and organizational skills

• Demonstrated strength in analytical skills

• Process/Procedure Authoring and/or Standard Operating Procedure Documentation

• Knowledge of working in FDA regulated industries

• Ability to partner with and influence internal technical experts

• Strong program management skills

• Solid business and legal acumen with a high attention to detail

• Positive and energetic team player with strong cross-functional team experience

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
