Description
The Custodian performs all tasks necessary to properly maintain cleanliness and overall appearance of the plant office area, restrooms, meeting rooms, and break rooms. The Custodian is primarily responsible for general cleaning and upkeep of the overall plant common area, workingas an individual contributor to manage day-to-day cleaning tasks to provide a clean working environment in the plant.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Clean and service restrooms, offices & lunchrooms
Sweep, vacuum and mop floors and stairways
Gather and dispose of rubbish and waste materials.
Observe the plant office, restroom and lunch room areas appearance and condition; report needed repairs, safety hazards, or other conditions that need the attention of either maintenance or outside vendors
Scrub, sanitize, and polish floors using powered machines equipped with rotating brushes
Maintain an inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies
Perform related work as assigned
Maintain records as required
EXPECTED SKILLS
Analytical and applied problem solving (troubleshooting) skills
Computer literate
Good written and verbal communication skills
Good personal organizational skills
Follow material safety and data sheets for cleaning chemicals utilized
Exhibit exemplary safety habits in all work assignments (e.g. using proper PPE)
Strictly adhere to applicable hygiene standards for all work areas
Properly communicate areas being maintained by using appropriate warning signs

Education High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred Experience Minimum 1 year experience as a janitor team member in a manufacturing environment
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
2 5 years experience of commercial cleaning or sanitation
Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and tools is a plus
Experience in food/dairy production environment is desirable
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum requirement is a High School diploma, G.E.D
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Job requires:
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting and twisting, standing for long periods of time (2-4 hours)
Exposure to unpleasant or noxious fumes and odors
Ability to push a janitor's cart (30-50 lbs).
Ability to go up and down the stairs to the second and third floors
