Description

Shift: 10am - 6:30pm

 

Emory Medical Laboratory's mission is to transform health and healing by providing high quality, cost-effective, innovative laboratory services which enhance patient health. We're seeking a certified Pathologist’s Assistant who is a graduate of an NAACLS Accredited PA Training Program. This individual:

 

  • Provides technical assistance to pathologists in surgical pathology and autopsy procedures.
  • Prepares, processes, examines and assists in the analysis of tissues. 
  • Monitors Resident and directs the workflow for maximum efficiency of department personnel.
  • Initiates action to obtain legal authorization for necropsy.
  • Provides medical residents with instruction in the use of photography equipment and procedures for routine dissections and autopsies.
  • May dien autopsy cases to assist pathologist.
  • Provides data which indicates the presence of bio-hazards so that appropriate handling precautions may be taken.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Physical or Biological Science or certification obtained prior to 2003.
  • Must be PA (ASCP) certified or eligible and pass exam within 18 months of hire.

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required.
