About the Job



Position: Seasonal Temporary Laborer, Horticulture Operations Department
Supervisor: Landscape Maintenance Supervisor
Classification: #0001 Temporary - 67 days or less in a calendar year
Wage: $18.00/hour
Overview: Assist the Arboretum Horticulture Team with the display gardens, research plots and buildings at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and Horticultural Research Center.

Job Description:

100% Perform maintenance work on display gardens, research plots and buildings
* Weeding, planting, pruning, weeding, removing brush, watering, spreading mulch, fertilizer, utilizing various types of garden and landscaping equipment such as pruners, shears, trees saws, shovels, pitchforks, ladders, cherry pickers
* Operate various types of engine-driven equipment such power rakes, small tractors, and utility carts.
* Pick up trash and debris; cleaning buildings, moving furniture, etc.
* Loading and unloading trucks.

Qualifications



Qualifications:
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
Able to climb 8-foot ladders
Consistently able to lift 50 pounds
Be able to stand for extended periods of time.

About the Department



The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a community outreach unit of the University of Minnesota's College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences. The Arboretum is located west of Minneapolis/St Paul and its 1,200 acres traverse the municipalities of Chaska, Chanhassen and Victoria. As a member of the American Public Garden Association and an accredited museum through the American Alliance of Museums, the Arboretum is a tremendous public asset.
