Job Description

 
19 fulltime seasonal H-2A jobs available 3/23/24-12/1/24. Duties: Operate 75-100 hp tractors, tractor-drawn machinery and self propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops including salad/leaf greens, onions, carrots, beets, cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and squash depending on farm location. Manually plant, cultivate and harvest produce in an organic environment. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears and knives. Much work will require extensive bending, stooping, kneeling and ground work. Duties include tilling soil and applying fertilizers; transplanting, weeding, thinning or pruning crops. Operate, monitor & maintain irrigation system. Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements and mechanical equipment. Apply organic fertilizers to crops. Inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress. Will monitor fields & greenhouses for plant infestations and use treatments appropriate for organic use in both a preventative or infestation situation. Clear and maintain irrigation ditches. Drive tractors on the farm, drive tractors and other motorized equipment between fields. Drive trucks and other self propelled machinery between fields and packing shed transporting harvested produce. Record information about crops, such as yields or costs. Workers must have experience in working with farm sanitary and safety practices as required in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) plans. Due to health and safety concerns relating to pesticide application and the operation of equipment on our farm, workers are required to have the ability to comprehend simple oral and written instructions in English. Requirements: *3 months of experience required with organic farming. * Must be able to lift 80 pounds. * Extensive pushing, pulling, sitting, walking, stooping, bending, repetitive movements. * Exposure to extreme temps.
