Columbus Regional Airport Authority is looking for a Communications Technician who wants to “Land Your Next Career”! This is a key position in our Public Safety Division, Airport Police department that is responsible for handling prompt and accurate emergency and non- emergency communications. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional listener with great attention to detail, be able to perform multiple tasks expeditiously, and simultaneously and have excellent organizational skills.

 

The Columbus Regional Airport Authority manages and operates passenger-focused John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH), cargo-focused Rickenbacker International Airport (LCK), and general aviation airport Bolton Field (TZR).

Your “Take Off” will be successful by doing the following with excellence:

  • Monitor access control, fire, CCTV system and other alarms.
  • Strong telephone and radio communication skills for dispatching Public Safety services on 800 MHz radio system.
  • Monitors the status of location, availability, and communications of all Public Safety units and personnel via the CAD.
  • Be able to type 35 words per minute with 85% degree of accuracy.
  • Perform related work as required.
  • Obtain and maintain LEADS/NCIC certification and EMD certification.

 

Your “Landing” will be smooth if you meet the following requirements:

  • Have a high school diploma or GED

 

  • Prior experience as a Communications Technician with another Public Safety agency is preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks, projects, and completing priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
