And our Corporate Real Estate team is on the front lines of procuring, designing and developing spaces at all our hubs, stations and city locations across the world. From airport affairs and business services to planning and development, this team is responsible for all our leases and major construction and renovation projects, system wide.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Project Manager in Corporate Real Estate - Planning and Development will be responsible for a portfolio of projects ranging from small to large scale facility capital developments at hubs and line station locations. This position leads small and large scale construction programs from inception to completion in accordance with corporate policies, standards and governing regulations and requirements. The position will manage at least one junior Project Manager, and handle a total portfolio anticipated to be up to 30-40 small projects ($100K – 2M) or large programs exceeding $100M. The leader in this role will be required to show a high aptitude for collaborating and coordinating with airport authorities, to ascertain, understand and collaborate with airport staff on facilities or other airport infrastructure projects, ensuring that the airline's interests are accounted for and addressed.

The successful candidate will coordinate all aspects of a portfolio of successful projects by combining critical thinking, business knowledge, and technical skills. experience. In addition, this position will develop creative alternatives and supportive project justifications through engagement, communication and option development. The Sr. Manager will be responsible for vendor staff, support managing project construction and administration, and will meet project metrics within approved cost and scope parameters.

Portfolio Planning, Development and Management:

  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with airport leaders and United Internal Customers
  • Develop project strategy and approach during planning phases and develop multiple alternatives to achieve Project Objectives
  • Own the delivery and portfolio management of scope, cost and schedules for all projects within their assigned projects (including team)

Project Delivery:

  • Leads self (and team) to plan, design and implement airport and commercial property facility and infrastructure construction projects
  • Handles the programming, planning, design, construction, schedule and budget related issues that pose a challenge to the success outcome of their projects, by drawing on knowledge of the process and experience
  • Accountable for the compliance with budget, schedule and scope of the projects
  • Responsible for governance (UA and CRE), artifacts, and guidelines of project portfolio
  • Responsible for the utilization of any process and standards
  • Uses Project Database, PM Artifacts, workflows, forms, Project Management Guidelines, etc.
  • Uses (and coaches team in) CRE Project tools such as Sharepoint, Microsoft Project, Oracle and others as defined by need
  • Ensures that projects meet defined metrics
  • Responsible and accountable for transparent, accurate, consistent project reporting (weekly, monthly and quarterly)

Leadership:

  • Establishes individual goals that align with departmental goals
  • Responsible in developing individual career development and training plans with leader
  • Use technical knowledge experience to provide thoughtful decision making and guidance in strategic implementation of United’s approved projects
  • Is solution oriented and committed to a creating and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement and innovation

  • Will be held accountable for providing constant and transparent communication to their Project Team, Leadership, Stakeholders and Customers

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree or related experience in Degree plus relevant experience
  • 7+ years Planning, Design and Construction Experience
  • 2+ years experience in Aviation
  • Knowledge of design and construction management process and vernacular, understanding of standard methodologies of Project Management
  • Demonstrated high ability to lead collaboration and manage communication at executive levels within the organization
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Degree in Science and Engineering or Construction Management and / or MBA
  • PMP, LEED, Black Belt, PE, RA, CM
  • 7+ years experience with airport/airline/aviation design and construction projects
  • Knowledge of FAA, ICAO, IATA standards, guidelines and requirements that relate to planning and design of airport infrastructure and facilities
  • Background in construction safety, capital improvement planning for facilities, Facility Management, Aviation Master Planning

The base pay range for this role is $124,735.00 to $169,950.00.
