Job Description: With preliminary direction from a licensed architect, participate in the pre-design and planning stages, as well as throughout all design phases, for a diverse range of projects, including private residential design, multistory mixed-use housing, high-rise residential, and corporate/commercial properties, including new construction, renovation, tenant improvement, parking garage, unit plans, and site planning; participate in the full spectrum of urban infill development projects, encompassing urban design, mixed-use regeneration, urban revitalization, urban planning, streetscape design, land use and transportation planning, and open space planning; utilize independent thinking and 2D/3D CAD and building information modeling programs, including Revit, AutoCAD, Enscape, VRay, SketchUp, Rhino, PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign to develop design concepts and refine them into design solutions, producing clear and compelling design presentations for design and concept development for projects and competitions requiring expedited concept development and document production; utilize personal judgement, analytical abilities, and computer proficiencies to construct BIM models and images, along with presentation visuals; create design documents for all phases of the design process, ranging from schematic design to construction documents, which encompass documenting architectural plans, elevations, and details in either imperial or metric standards suitable for jurisdictional agencies; refine clients' functional and spatial needs for buildings by integrating customized detailing, structural engineering principles, and building systems into architectural designs to create practical design solutions; collaborate with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), civil, structural, lighting, A/V, telecom, graphics, interiors, and landscape consultants to harmonize conceptual design drawings and incorporate building systems into architectural designs; revise in-progress design development and construction documents based on feedback from the Project Architect and Design Director; analyze sketches, photographs, notes, and other relevant information to determine the optimal approach for completing drawings that address technical design issues related to sites, buildings, and client requirements; establish a context 3D model environment and configure settings for VR architectural visualization, enabling advanced design presentation options for clients and facilitating in-house design reviews; design exterior envelope as well as interior finishing requiring enlarged plans, elevations, sections, details, and axonometric drawings; provide material and product research and analysis appropriate for projects requirements and client satisfaction; research and draft details and schedules specifically designed for a given project in preparations for construction; set up the implementation of firm-wide strategies and collaborate with design teams to ensure sustainable design success, provide support and guidance firm-wide, and focus on the seamless rollout of sustainable design implementation in office design projects including urban design, transportation, retail, and international multistory and high-rise buildings; work with sustainable design leadership in the continued improvement and development of high-performance design to maintain and improve the quality and consistency of design environment and deliverables; coordinate with contractor and owner to make sure the overall design intent is achieved throughout the construction process; organize, file, and distribute documents utilizing BIM360 and other construction coordination software; provide ongoing development and support for all sustainable design platforms and work closely with design and delivery leadership to guide the transition from traditional sustainable design processes and standalone environmental analysis practices into integrated design and analysis processes in collaborative work environments; set up automated parametric optimization workflows using available and custom developed scripts to connect 3D modeling tools, building environmental analysis tools, and evolutionary optimization algorithms to optimize the building shape and/or building envelope and provide quick feedback on the performance to rest of the design team; set up meetings with client representatives for presentations and workshops, analysis of goals and needs, develop programmed space spreadsheets, narrative summaries, room data sheets, adjacency diagrams, graphic content, and prepare final Developed Project Program document; manage and coordinate project consultant agreements, project budgets, and construction budgets with clients and contractors involved; execute site visits, field observation, and meetings to review the progress of construction.

Salary: $61,194 to $79,996 per year
