Description

Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio is seeking mission-minded Associates to join us as a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Float Health Care Assistant to serve our patients across Central Ohio in our Franklinton, North Columbus, Mansfield, Athens, Toledo, and Virtual Health Centers.

SUMMARY

Performs a variety of client care services in accordance with agency policies and in a courteous and professional manner between all Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio's health centers. Provides general health and contraceptive information, abortion information to clients, assists with abortion procedures and performs clerical functions, while ensuring quality client care and excellent customer service. Must be pleasant, courteous, and helpful. Requires an understanding of and commitment to quality healthcare and excellence in customer service; practice these values in relation to internal and external customers. Supports the revenue cycle through accurately and effectively managing cash collections, verifications, sliding fee scale, daily closing procedures, and charge closing procedures, and other related processes. This position will travel between all health and surgical centers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Attends in-service workshops, seminars, and staff meetings.

Competently utilize the computerized client information system for appointment scheduling, entering client visit data, collecting client fees and providing /printing client receipts.

Conducts verbal history and appropriate screening for medical record documentation.

Collects, posts, and reconciles payments per all PPGOH billing and financial policies.

Collects and prepares lab specimens, including venipuncture and urine collection.

Manages medical waste utilizing universal precautions.

Maintains accurate records for patient registration, medical records, lab testing, etc.

Maintains confidentiality and exercises sensitivity in a nonjudgmental manner when dealing with sexuality and sensitive issues with clients.

Provides abortion clients with accurate information regarding PPGOH services, including questions pertaining to abortion and contraception options as well as funding sources.

Provides customer-focused services. Anticipates needs of the patients and providers and performs necessary duties to ensure patient satisfaction and promote clinic success. Responsible for establishing effective and enduring relationships with patients and other PPGOH constituents as appropriate.

Prepares clients for exams and assists in the exam room when needed.

Provides pregnancy testing, information, and referrals.

Prepares and maintains cleanliness and inventory of abortion and exam rooms.

Performs waived laboratory tests and venipuncture.

Participates in risk and quality management processes. Adheres to HIPPA, OSHA and CLIA regulations and workplace safety policies.

Responds to telephone calls by making appointments, providing information and appropriate referrals.

Transfers/documents required information in the medical record checking the accuracy of all data per PPGOH protocol.

Verifies and correctly documents client payment method for abortion services as well as accurately determines eligibility for funding or private pay.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required.

1-2 years advanced education or technical training preferred.

OBGYN and recovery room experience in a healthcare setting desirable; family planning experience preferred.
