The Department of Art is accredited by NASAD and has 47 full-time faculty members, over 20 part-time faculty members, over 800 undergraduate majors and offers the following degrees: BFAs in Art Education, Graphic Design, Photography with concentrations in Commercial and Fine Art, and Studio Art; a BA in Art & Visual Culture with concentrations in Art History, Art Management and Studio Art; and a BS in Graphic Communications Management with concentrations in Cross Media Production and Print/Packaging Production. The Department of Art typically offers a range of travel opportunities including trips to the university’s New York Loft and has offered study abroad trips to China, Costa Rica, Cuba, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Scotland, Spain, and Taiwan. Position Summary Information

Minimum Qualifications
MA or MFA, art history/ visual studies, curatorial studies, art administration, or related discipline.
Essential Job Functions
The Department of Art seeks to hire multiple adjunct instructors for various courses in art history, visual culture, and art management for Spring 2024 and the academic year 2024-25.

Instruction may be face-to-face or online, depending on need.

Essential job functions include course preparation and delivery, grading, student engagement, and weekly office hours. Instructors are expected to submit materials for departmental and/or General Education assessment as requested by the department chair.

Courses taught may include:
ARH 2030: Art from Prehistory to 1400
ARH 2130: Art from 1400 to Present

Other courses depending on department need and instructor expertise are
welcome.

Applicants may also propose a topic not currently included among those listed in the course catalog (please see the list of courses for Art History and Art Management.)
Preferred Qualifications
  • ABD or PhD in art history/ visual studies or related discipline.
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • Experience teaching online asynchronous courses
  • Experience with and enthusiasm for teaching undergraduate General Education courses
Number of Hours Per Week Varies based on course schedule (maximum 5 courses per academic year)
Number of Months per Year 9
Hiring Range Commensurate with qualifications and equity. Master's Degree - $3348 per 3 credit course; Doctorate/Terminal Degree - $3720 per 3 credit course
