Wanderpups is a veteran and woman-owned dog walking company in Washington, DC. We are rooted in animal advocacy and committed to providing excellent pet care for all animals who cross our paths. We are looking to hire people who align with our values of compassion, integrity, and professionalism.

We also have a strong belief in work/life balance. You will not take work home with you; we do not offer weekend services.

Professional dog walker working with private dog walks and small groups.
The position has a flexible schedule (you will provide/update us weekly), but we would prefer candidates who are consistently available to work during the business week. Ideally, candidates will be available MON-FRI but we have some flexibility on this. Our peak hours of business run from 10 am and 4 pm.
If you do not have consistent availability, we still encourage you to apply. We can benefit from backup coverage and/or availability of off-peak work hours (early mornings and evenings).
We service Capitol Hill, Atlas District, Navy Yard, and nearby communities.

Compensation:

$20 - $30 / hour (based on previous payrolls - work is paid per walk performed)

$800 - $1800 / monthly

$9 - $10 per 30-minute walk before tips or bonuses. We work with small groups.

Performance reviews with a potential compensation increase starting at six months.
Bonuses included for off-peak work (evenings and holidays) and private walks ($5). We also have new client referrals, new staff member referrals, and new client meeting bonuses ($15).

The responsibilities:

Create a safe and positive walking environment for our client's dogs (in private and small pack settings)
Follow the client-provided care instructions, including training preferences
You are a team player with fantastic communication and customer service skills.
Practice time management to ensure on-time arrivals for all assigned visits
You must provide/update your availability on a weekly basis via our scheduling app (Time to Pet); this is a critical step to ensure we always have enough support for our clients.

Are you comfortable with all breeds, ages, and temperaments? We primarily work with dogs but it is possible you may be asked to care for other animals in the future (cats).*

This position requires all staff members to travel safely and quickly from one client resident to another. How do you plan on traveling within your dog walking route? Please note that your travel times can influence your rate of pay per hour. We design the routes to minimize travel times, maximizing your time working with animals.*

This is a year-round position. Are you comfortable working and traveling in all weather conditions? Are you able to commit to this position for 12 consecutive months?*

What are your monthly gross salary expectations for this position? Do you have a salary range you are able to share? Please note, this position compensates staff by walk performed, not by hour.*

We work Monday - Friday with most services performed from 10 am to 4 pm. When are you consistently available to work with us? Candidates who can work Monday to Wednesday or Monday to Friday will have special consideration.*

This position will require that you have the ability to walk dogs outdoors in a variety of areas and uneven terrains. You will also be required to clean up animal waste, kneel next to animals to properly leash them, and possibly pick up animals to facilitate animal transport.
