JOB SUMMARY
This position's primary purpose is to ensure our products meet customer needs. This includes planning, and organizing product lines from conceptual stages through the entire product life cycle, with ownership in terms of products' growth and profitability. The incumbent aims to optimize profit while managing marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives for all applicable markets and all sales channels. Key areas of responsibility include product development, rationalization, enhancement, commercial support, engineering/manufacturing guidance, and positioning. Success in this role requires extensive technical knowledge of assigned product lines, as well as a comprehensive understanding of market conditions and customer needs and competitive landscape.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in overall product strategy and product development initiatives and associated roadmaps
Participate in new product development phase-gate process
Create go-to-market tactics, define targets and determine sales and marketing plans
Define value selling proposition and differentiators to increase BOD
Create strategic messaging to articulate and deploy the value proposition
Disseminate information on products and product strategies to all functional areas of the business unit, providingtechnical product training as required
Provide analytical support to commercial team to help refine sales strategies
Identify new markets and markets sizes through analysis of marketing research for existing, new, and emerging products
Influence and collaborate with R&D, sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to develop product definitions responsive to customer needs and marketing opportunities
Define and document customer requirements for new products, as well as desired changes/enhancements for existing products
Continually review current product portfolio's ability to meet customer needs
Develop product cost profile and lead cost reduction efforts to maximize margins
Establish and manage pricing and promotional strategies based on marketing research and competitive analysis; implement these strategies in conjunction with Sales and Marketing to establish and maintain market position
Develop competitive analysis materials to compare product segment with key competitors
Develop and maintain external data sources, industry sources, associations, end users, customers, reps, analysts, consultants, trade organizations, and other relevant market intelligence sources
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Master's Degree preferred
Five plus years of relevant experience
Broad product and market knowledge
Strategic decision making skills
Technical aptitude and strong technical knowledge of air control and movement products including fans, dampers, louvers and ventilating exhaust systems
Strong presentation skills
Experience with pricing, forecasting, finance and distribution models
Formal exposure to process improvement methodology
Strong knowledge of functions relevant to product managementincluding sales, market segment analysis, purchasing, product engineering, production, cost analysis, quality, and customer service
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally about 25 percent of the time
