The Department of Corrections is looking to fill our Director of Clinical Operations role at the Faribault facility. This position manages all clinical operations and administrative aspects of the Faribault facility, including medical, nursing, dental, radiology, laboratory, and medical records services. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide management, direction and supervision of facility clinical operations and administrative tasks so that health care for incarcerated individuals and emergency health care for employees meet acceptable standards according to federal and state requirements, American Correctional Association Standards, and Department of Corrections (DOC) policies, procedures, and directives.

  • Collaborate and participate in management of positions; including plans for employee retention and recruitment, onboarding and orientation of employee so that they professionally perform their assigned duties and contribute to the achievement of the provision of quality, efficient and effective health care.

  • Direct, educate and assist with coordination and scheduling of on and off-site contracted services and onboarding and site orientation of practitioners to help improve and maintain the quality of the services. Evaluate efficiency and effectiveness and recommend cost savings measures if indicated.

  • Actively contribute and participate in the agency’s continuous quality improvement program; including but not limited to: completing audits, reporting, corrective action plans, process and procedure reviews and follow up for required health care outcome measures, documentation practices, ACA standard compliance and other projects as indicated.

  • Administer, monitor and verify use of facility health care budget based on projected operational costs and incarcerated individuals needs so health care is provided in a timely and efficient manner within fiscal and human resources allocated.

  • Monitor compliance with all DOC policies, procedures and directives so that agency guidelines are met to ensure the safety of all employee, contractors, visitors, and incarcerated individuals.

This position has direct contact with incarcerated individuals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota that is current, active, and without restrictions, limitations, or conditions.(Note: Please include your license number on your application/resume.)

  • Three (3) years of experience in a management/supervisory role in an outpatient clinic setting or skilled care nursing settingORDirector/Assistant Director of Nursing experience in an outpatient clinic or skilled care nursing settingORa combination of the two.(Note: Experience will only be considered if one of your principal responsibilities is to perform multiple supervisory tasks, such as assigning work, evaluating performance, administering discipline, hiring, etc., on an ongoing basis for more than three employees.)*Skilled care nursing is an area of specialization found within the occupation of professional nursing that encompasses the breadth of gerontological, restorative, and rehabilitative nursing as practiced in skilled nursing homes. Its breadth covers the care and treatment ofresidents with acute, chronic, debilitating and/or terminal diseases. In addition, residents with varying forms and stages of dementia area significant proportion of the population in any skilled care nursing setting.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing.

  • Skill in budget development and administration.

  • Knowledge of and skill in clinic operations.

  • Experience working in a correctional health care setting.

Additional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
