Position Details: Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a sabbatical leave replacement position of Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Education to begin September 1, 2024, for the 2024-25 academic year.

Department Information: The Elementary and Secondary Education Department at Gustavus Adolphus College prepares teacher candidates to be adaptive, culturally responsive and sustaining, service-oriented change agents and K-12 educators through its exceptional team of professors, small class sizes, and extensive field experiences locally and abroad (https://gustavus.edu/cice/GlobalEd/). Major/Essential Functions: This position is a 7-course equivalent (28 semester credit) teaching assignment. Primary responsibilities of this position will include teaching the following elementary and literacy-focused courses in the fall and spring semesters:

• EDU 320, K-12 Literacy (4 credits)
• EDU 350, Reading in the Content Area (4 credits)
• EDU 372, Elementary Language Arts Methods and Materials (2 credits)
• EDU 374, Elementary Social Studies Methods and Materials (2 credits)
• EDU 385, Elementary Interdisciplinary Models and Practicum (2 credits)

Prerequisites

• Master’s degree in education-focused field
• Licensure or advanced degree in K-12 literacy or reading
• A minimum of three years of prior experience working as an elementary teacher
