Security Engineer

The Security Engineer will focus on the security aspects in the design of systems that need to be able to deal robustly with possible sources of disruption, ranging from natural and malicious acts.

Responsibilities:
Protecting of the availability, integrity and confidentiality of company information assets.
Protecting of the company brands and reputations.
Managing the risk of company information assets.
Reducing vulnerabilities of company information assets.
Countering, monitoring and responding to threats to company information assets.
Harmonizing the various applicable compliance requirements into consistent control selections.
Communicating the security program to customers internally or externally.
May perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Degree in information assurance or other technology; other degrees considered
3 to 5 years related work experience as IT practitioner
Plus 3 to 5 years related work experience as full-time security practitioner
Experience with operating systems, applications, and various networking technologies
Experience with Intrusion Detection Systems
Experience with system log and security log analysis
Experience with firewall monitoring, management and administration
Experience with security related best practices, standards and procedures, and HW/SW products
Experience with a vulnerability management product
Preferred Qualifications:
Department practices and procedures
Insurance related background
CISSP, CISA, CCSP (Cisco), MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) with Security Specialization
GIAC certifications are also acceptable
Skills:
Must have strong forensic, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities and interpersonal skills to work
through issues with various teams
Excellent oral and written communication with all levels of the organization
Excellent customer service
Mathematical and statistical analysis
Education:

Undergraduate degree (AAS or BS) in computer science, mathematics, MIS, software engineering. Or

BS in business administration, mathematics or equivalent work experience
