JOB REQUIREMENTS: SNAP-ON Location: Rochester Hills, MI Division: RSI -
Repair System and Information Group: Snap-on Equipment Solutions (EQS)
Full time position: Sr. Project Engineer-Mechanical Independently design
and develop the most complex products as a senior level individual
contributor or as a project leader, often requiring development of new
or improved products/processes/ techniques. Independently assess
feasibility and soundness of proposed products. Manage and develop the
most complex projects and plans with large teams involving a variety of
engineering disciplines. Provide technical counsel and assistance to
less experienced employees. Individuals in this capacity are recognized
as being technical experts and/or having excellent project management
skills/proficiency. It may or may not have people responsibilities.
Perform standard engineering assignments, which are of moderate to
complex technical requirements in the design and manufacturing of
automotive OEM service tools. Responsibilities 1. Independently design
and develop the most complex products as a senior level individual
contributor or as a project leader, often requiring development of new
or improved products/processes/ techniques. 2. Independently, or through
team leadership, establish direction and oversee entire projects.
Integrate efforts of other divisions including engineering,
manufacturing and marketing. 3. Contribute to successful project
completion by defining and establishing design constraints and resolving
conflicting requirements. 4. Direct preparation of appropriate
documentation and reviews to ensure accuracy. 5. Ensure completion of
assigned projects within budget, time and cost constraints. Prepare
time, cost and manpower estimates. Provide technical direction. 6.
Contribute inventions, new designs or techniques that are regarded as
major advances in the industry. 7. Provide technical counsel and
assistance to less experienced employees. 8. Personal development. 9.
Other miscellaneous duties as assigned . \* Perform moderate to complex
technical tasks through the application of engineering principles and
practices. \* Interface with customers in order to identify needs for
new tool designs. \* Generate and document new tool designs from
concept, to prototype, to manufacturing and packaging for end use. \*
Gather tool requirements and application information. \* Develop tooling
concepts and solutions. \* Develop tool mock-ups, prototypes (e.g. 3D
printing). \* Coordinate with machine shops and other suppliers for
prototype fabrication. \* Test and validate tools on vehicles or vehicle
subsystems. \* Document legacy tools where existing documentation is
deficient. Qualifications 1 Bachelor\'s degree in engineering or science
or equivalent work experience (mechanical / electrical). 2 Extensive
technical knowledge, usually acquired by a minimum of 8-10+ years
automotive related experience or a master\'s degree in engineering or
science and 5 years experience. 3 Experience in vehicle communications
protocols is preferred. Strong analytical and conceptual abilities. 4
Experience with automotive OEM service and diagnostic tools is a plus. 5
Hands-on Automotive assembly or repair experience preferred. 6 3D and 2D
CAD proficiency is preferred (Autodesk Inventor). 7 Experience
interpreting and applying GD&T principals. 8 Understanding of
engineering principles, machining, injection molding. 9 Expert technical
competence or demonstrated technical competence with excellent project
management skills. 10 Complex problem solving skills , b road
