Division Information
PACCAR's Information Technology Division (ITD), located in Renton, WA utilizes cutting-edge technology to provide systems development, consulting, voice and data communications services to the entire Corporation, which has high visibility in the technology sector.
Requisition Summary
At PACCAR ITD, cloud computing enables us to modernize and consolidate IT infrastructure, automate workloads, and pursue next-generation application innovation. To continue this transformation, we're seeking an experienced cloud developer/engineer who has expertise in the strategy, design, development, testing, and implementation of small to large-scale business solutions in the cloud.
The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp of emerging (cloud) technologies, platforms, & applications and an ability to customize them to help PACCAR business solutions become more secure and efficient. Extensive knowledge of cloud maintenance, experience in cross-team collaboration, and advanced industry knowledge are essential to keep us on the cutting edge. The cloud developer/engineer will have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of application/IT operations and an ongoing impact on capability and growth.
Job Functions/Responsibilities
As a member of our Dealer Systems team, work in tandem with other ITD teams to identify and implement optimal cloud-based (or cloud-native) solutions to meet project requirements & department/company objectives.
Define and document best practices & strategies pertaining to application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to developers to build their cloud competencies.
Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards for code quality and thoughtful design.
Manage cloud environments in accordance with company general, functional, operational, security, development, data classification & governance policy.
At the direction of lead architects, perform technical efforts to design, build, test, and deploy cloud solutions involving Integration (APIs, Kafka, SQS, Lambda, etc.), IaC (Yaml, Terraform), GITHUB DevOps (CI/CD, Repos, etc.), application & UI development (C#, Python, Micro-Frontend, Javascript, Typescript, etc.), database development (SQL, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, etc.), large-scale data processing, and advanced analytics, and cloud platform configuration & optimization (Console, CLI, Observation, CloudWatch, IAM, etc.).
Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle for cloud solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance.
Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures.
Apply exceptional problem-solving skills, with an ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity.
Develop, coordinate, and administrate Cloud infrastructure.
Implement continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines when necessary.
Ensure necessary system security by using best in class cloud security solutions.
Qualifications
5-7+ years of experience in architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS platforms.
Understanding of, and experience with, the five pillars of a well-architected framework: cost optimization, security, reliability, performance efficiency, operational excellence.
Experience in several of the following areas: database development, ETL, business intelligence, big data, machine learning, advanced analytics.
Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, data scientists, and subject-matter experts.
Knowledge of programming languages such as C#./Net, Python, Javascript.
An understanding of writing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), using tools like CloudFormation templates (Yaml) or Terraform.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Education/Training
Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent, in Computer Science, Information Technology or Mathematics required.
Knowledge of web services, APIs, REST/JSON, Kafka, Serverless and RPC desired.
Cloud (AWS) certification(s) desired.
