Job Description

Purpose

The Technical Writer revises or writes material that is mostly standardized for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications. The Technical Writer organizes material and completes writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology, may maintain records and files of work and revisions, may select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material, assist in laying out material for publication, and arrange for typing, duplication and distribution of material. This position is familiar with a variety of the automotive field concepts, practices, and procedures. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Essential Functions*

Create documentation methodology and framework

Create document flow diagram

Create report outlines

Develop and maintain user-training materials

Document training curricula

Review documents to improve organization, clarity, presentation, grammar, and formatting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a communication or technical discipline, or equivalent experience.

• Previous Automotive technical experience.

• Knowledge of currently used technical language.

Working conditions

Standard office, climate-controlled environment

Standard laboratory environment

Physical requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time

• Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment

• Ability to communicate with customers and co-workers
