Required Skills: | KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Deliver and manage care through the Aspire Lifestyle Model to honor residents and enhance their quality of life. Engage residents using the Aspire 5 pillars of wellness including Social, Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, and Spiritual.
Budgeting and Inventory
Estimates food consumption and purchases foodstuffs and supplies within the established budget. Inventories stock to ensure adequate supplies. Receives and examines foodstuffs and supplies to ensure quality and quantity meet established standards and specifications.
Menu Planning
Cooks or otherwise prepares food according to the recipe. Ensure all physicians’ orders related to diet and nutrition are followed. Maintains an accurate listing of menus prepared daily and ensures any changes are posted at least 24 hours in advance. Observe and test foods being cooked.
Occupational Health and Safety
Maintains accurate cooler and freezer temperatures by rules and regulations. Maintains emergency food supplies by Disaster Plan. Perform all tasks according to established policies and procedures.
Staffing and Scheduling
Establish a work schedule and ensure all shifts are covered. Oversees the planning, preparation, and serving of nutritious meals and snacks to residents. Provide departmental training to culinary staff regarding sanitation, safety, and food preparation. Screen applicants and make recommendations to the Executive Director for all culinary staff positions. Supervise kitchen staff to ensure compliance with all rules and regulations. Supervises personnel engaged in preparing, cooking, and serving foods.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School education or equivalent. Must possess training and work experience in the culinary field Must be certified in Food Handling according to state guidelines, or be willing to become certified. Supervisory or management experience preferred.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Follows all policies and procedures Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age. Must be able to relate information concerning residents’ condition. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant action. Must receive a "not disqualified" criminal background result from the Department of Human Services and may not be on the OIG exclusions list. Stays up to date on all required training. Understands and adheres to the Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy. Is familiar with the Resident’s Bill of Rights and adheres to it. |
