2. Must be in good academic standing

Be registered full-time for the respective semester – nine (9) semester credit hours during the fall semester, nine (9) semester credit hours during the spring semester, or three (3) semester credit hours during the summer session or be registered in the required number of semester credit hours to fulfill the only remaining requirements of the degree plan.

Scope of Job
The Graduate Research Assistant will help with the planning and implementing of the 7th Annual International Conference on Border Studies, a 3-day event hosted by UTRGV and the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) in Mexico which showcases multidisciplinary research of scholars and graduate students from over 30 national and international academic institutions. The Graduate Research Assistant will help with conducting research to establish a theme for the conference, soliciting research papers for presentation, reviewing research abstracts, researching and working on the logistics of the 3-day event, and attending the event. The student will also help archiving recordings of the research presentations and with publishing conference proceedings. In addition, the Graduate Research Assistant will perform other research tasks within the Office of Education Abroad as needed.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
  • Interest in global topics/events.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience writing research papers.

  • Ability to interact professionally with staff, faculty, students, and the public.

  • Ability to use standard office equipment, personal computer, Office 365 applications, including but not limited to MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Bookings.

  • Experience preparing presentation materials.


  • Experience editing research papers, and/or project reports.


  • Experience with social media.


  • Ability to design marketing materials such as flyers and posters.


  • A good work ethic.
Salary $1,250 per month
