Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Public Administration at North Carolina Central University strives to prepare students to become professionals with the knowledge and skills required for ethical leadership in the public and non-profit sectors through effective teaching, applied and scholarly research, and service to developing communities. The Department offers a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in traditional, executive, and online formats.
Primary Purpose of Position
Adjunct faculty teach with excellence a variety of courses for the MPA program. Adjunct faculty apply both academic and professional qualifications to support the department’s mission to prepare students for leadership roles in public service. Course areas include budgeting and finance, human resources, research methods, quantitative analysis, and other topics in the MPA curriculum.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Minimum 2 years of online teaching experience
  • Minimum 2 years of graduate-level teaching experience
  • Preferred certifications: Quality Matters, ACUE, or Teaching Certificate
  • Experience with Canvas or a similar Learning Management System

Minimum Education/Experience
An earned PhD or master’s degree in Public Administration or related field, with relevant work experience. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and scholarly activity, with a focus on public administration or related fields, including Economics, Human Resources, Public Policy, Finance, Organizational Theory, and Quantitative Analysis.
