DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a member of the bridge inspection team, your main responsibility will be to support the team leader in conducting various technical tasks related to bridge inspections. This includes inspecting the structural elements of bridges, such as foundations, supports, and components, in accordance with the national bridge inspection standards (NBIS). You will be involved in safety inspections of existing bridges, assessing the condition of concrete footings, abutments, steel beams, truss members, and other structural components. Additionally, you will inspect bridge features like expansion devices, approach slabs, relief joints, and safety measures such as guide-rails and parapets. Your duties will also involve identifying any damage caused by accidents, scouring of footings due to water, and wear or corrosion on steel members and bearings. You will measure bridge members, record deterioration, and rate the condition of various bridge components.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Vendor-controlled position. Work hours may vary to meet operational needs.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title);  or
Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); or
One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:
This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
