8 Fulltime H-2A Seasonal Jobs available 3/09/2024- 12/11/2024. Manually plant, cultivate, harvest, and pack vegetable and fruit crops including; apples, peaches, nectarines, plums, cherries, apricots, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, currants, gooseberries, blueberries, rhubarb, grapes, tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers, peas, and pumpkins. Use hand tools such as trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives. Duties include tilling soil and applying fertilizers, transplanting, weeding, thinning or pruning crops, applying pesticides, cleaning, packing, and loading harvested products. Construct trellises, repair fences and farm buildings, and participate in irrigation activities. Set up and operate irrigation equipment. Operate tractors, tractor drawn machinery, self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops. Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment. All machinery or equipment operation will be done within the farm setting and are incidental to work at our business location. Harvest fruits and vegetables by hand. When harvesting apples- Apples injured by bruising during picking shall not exceed 1% (WNY) for fresh and 1% (WNY) for processing as defined in the U.S. standard for grades. Productivity must be at least 4-20 bushel bins fresh market and/or 6-20 bushel bins processing fruit per day. Must be able to lift 60lbs. Must have experience in working with farm sanitary and safety practices as required in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) plans. Apply pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers to crops. Work out doors in all types of weather. Must be able to stand, climb, and stoop for long periods of time. Inform farmer of crop progress. Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers. Clear and maintain irrigation ditches. Record information about crops, such as pesticide use, yields, or costs. Due to safety concerns on a Farm, workers must understand basic instructions in English. Requirements: * Must have three months experience in the above. * Lifting requirement of 60 lbs. * Exposure to extreme temperatures, repetitive movements, and frequent stooping/bending.
