We are looking for a Research Director at the top of their game, someone who is excited about big challenges and energized by being part of a group that brings great collaborative energy and enjoys motivating others to perform at their best. This role is critical to the Research Division of Strategic Initiatives, aimed at implementing transformational activities across the shield’s strategic priorities.
You will work directly with dynamic leaders and a phenomenal team of project managers as we define the activities needed to realize our objectives and drive impactful outcomes.

The Director of Operations is responsible for directing, administering and achieving the operational goals and objectives established by the Senior Leadership Team. In addition to the strategic components, the Director will be charged with leading the implementation and providing oversight for new operational, quality, customer service and IT strategies that are required for compliance with applicable internal and external strategic partners such as the FDA, NIH and others. The Director is responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of all infrastructure related to the center or research shared services units. The Director is responsible for establishing and meeting operational goals and expectations in line with the Research shield strategic plan and institutional strategic priorities. You will be responsible for leadership and facilitation of operational improvement to achieve best of class functionality. The Director works cooperatively with physician/scientist leaders, component directors, investigators, Research administration, clinical research coordinators, research accounting/finance, legal contract managers, lab, pharmacy, and other ancillary departments. Individual works cooperatively with representatives of other centers, departments, federal agencies, the pharmaceutical industry as well as other research organizations. Interacts with institutional and department/division committees across all sites.
Qualifications
- A master's degree is required in Organizational Management, Business Administration or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in research, healthcare administration, quality, customer service initiatives or a clinical research setting.
- Must have 3-5 years of business/operations management experience and demonstrated success in assuming increasing administrative and leadership responsibilities.
- Throughout the individual's career they will have experience that includes a combination of operations and strategic leadership.
- Must have demonstrated skills in financial/cost management, complex budgeting, and methods for improving operational efficiency.
- Must be proficient in the use of computers, Microsoft applications and databases.
- Good human relations, communication (written and oral) and organizational skills required.
