Job Description

Cintas is seeking Employment Practices Counsel to provide in-house legal services to the company with particular emphasis on labor and employment practices. More specifically, the Employment Practices Counsel helps the corporate office manage employment matters and achieve appropriate resolution in a cost-effective and efficient manner. This position provides leadership and consultation to location management on the development of positive employment practices and consistent execution of corporate policies. The job holder works under the general supervision of the Deputy General Counsel.

Responsibilities include consulting with management on policy interpretation and compliance issues including but not limited to performance management, disciplinary processes, legal inquiries, and general employment law; serving as escalation support and liaison between field management and Deputy General Counsel; delivering training for supervisors, managers, and HR staff on topics to include: Corporate Policies, investigations, maintaining positive employment practices, and various employment law topics including but not limited to the ADAAA, FMLA, ADEA, and Title VII; working collaboratively with Labor Relations Counsel and field operations on the interpretation of collective bargaining agreements; conducting employment practices audits and investigations at field locations as directed and providing a written summary of audits with recommendations and next steps provided to location management and executives; and using preventative measures such as proactive involvement, early identification, and resolution of potential issues/disputes to manage and minimize risk and to increase the effectiveness of services.

Skills/Qualifications

Required:

  • Juris Doctor Degree

  • Admitted to a state bar

  • Minimum 2 years full-time relevant legal experience

  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to travel extensively and on short notice

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and intranet/internet

Education:

  • Doctorate Degree (over 19 years)
