The District Manager leads all the cafes in a particular region by maintaining our passion for the highest standards of hospitality, growing sales, managing and delegating café tasks, and successfully building a high-performing team of baristas, café managers, and trainers while maintaining a strong focus on succession planning and continued people development.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and lead ongoing succession planning
  • Communicate professionally with the team and guests
  • Follow up consistently by providing timely feedback to Managers and trainers
  • Build rapport with managers and teams by maintaining relationships through regular site visits 
  • Demonstrate compassion with teams while setting clear expectations
  • Guide managers to confront, diffuse, and resolve difficult situations in a proactive, objective, and solution-oriented manner
  • Coach managers to meet standards and treat one another respectfully
  • Possess a high knowledge of employment law and continuously engage in learning to reduce liability
  • Hold our managers accountable for policies and procedures while ensuring they are being enforced properly
  • Assist in conflict resolution amongst team members
  • Assist in Barista and Café interviews, ensuring we are hiring for qualified, diverse candidates
  • Seeks continuous growth and improvement in all processes
  • Cross collaborate to provide a first-in-class onboarding experience
  • Facilitates appropriate coaching sessions and one-on-ones with Cafe Managers and the Market Trainer
  • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed 
  • Ensure any issues are reported and addressed immediately or escalated to the appropriate parties/channels
  • Acquire and maintain a ServSafe (or similar) certification for food service
  • Maintain and renew applicable licenses for store operation on a yearly basis or whatever cadence is required by local or state law
  • Ensure all Health and safety trainings are completed on time
  • Stay abreast of local laws and regulations as they relate to the nature of our business and communicate potential liabilities 
  • Create and promote a healthy work environment culture that encompasses a strong work ethic
  • Facilitate and oversee the educating of baristas so that they are fluent with the La Colombe mission and culture as well as the story of our coffees
  • Work with Cafe Managers, Leads, and Trainers to make sure that every experience is crafted to La Colombe’s specifications
  • Conduct regular site visits to evaluate all standards and protocols are maintained
  • Review P&L and make necessary adjustments to staffing and ordering to assure profitability
  • Strive to ensure that each La Colombe cafe location carries a consistent environment for each of our guests
  • Work collaboratively with cafe teams, managers, retail operations, and other stakeholders to develop and finalize cafe budgets
  • Ensure accurate, quality-conscious, deliberate, and intentional inventory control of coffee, tea, food items, hardware, and other items throughout the cafes
  • Maintain and upkeep uniform and fair policies and procedures across cafes
  • Maintain regular meetings with Cafe Managers and oversee priority projects and initiatives through to completion
  • Oversee and drive completion of all repair and maintenance projects throughout market
  • Consistently review and evaluate vendor partnerships, finding and onboarding new vendors as needed
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute efficient openings of all new stores in the designated market
  • Have a deep working knowledge and understanding of the market to analyze trends, and make suggestions to maximize efficiency and income
  • Support weak areas and note unusual occurrences
  • Train café managers on how to recognize, influence, and change their business based on financial reports
  • Ensure that all productivity numbers, sales, labor costs, and profit targets are met
  • Collaborate with Accounting to ensure all invoices are paid and disputes resolved on time

Requirements

  • Food Service: 3 years of food service experience with a preference on a coffee-focused business
  • Years in Management: 3 years minimum in a hospitality setting
  • Ability to oversee anywhere from 5- 15 cafes in the designated market
  • Interests: An enthusiasm for specialty coffee
  • People skills: Dealing with the public and team proactively, professionally, and positively
  • Communication: Positive and professional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Travel: Flexibility and ability to travel as needed
  • Available to work flexible hours, which could include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ownership: Takes initiative, is personally driven, and takes pride in business
  • High attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, reach, crawl, push/pull, climb stairs, and stand without limitation for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift and/or carry 50 lbs or more on a consistent basis
  • Frequently required to use hands
  • Basic understanding of computer POS Systems, along with basic math skills
  • Reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language

Compensation Range: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00, plus bonus.
