Apprentice Mechanic learns to performs work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment over a preset timeline.
Responsibilities:
Ability to learn to perform all functions below and to succeed into transitioning into a level C mechanic.
- Preventative maintenance inspections on power unit and trailers
- Lube, oil and filter on power units
- Air brake component removal and installation
- Routine electrical repairs
- Tire removal and installation
- Suspension component replacement I.E. airbags
- Perform routine bolt on component replacement, i.e.: alternator, starter, a/c compressor, air compressor, torque arms but not limited to these items
- Ability to run torches, plasma and some minor welding required 18+
- Perform minor hydraulic repairs, i.e.: hose replacement and valve replacement
- Able to perform wheel end replacement and diagnostics
- Anti-lock brake component replacement
- Must have or be in the process of having NYS Inspectors License
