Thermal Architect, Pixel Watch

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.
  • 1 year of experience using computer-aided design tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
  • 3 years of experience in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and CFD modeling as well as system-level thermal validation testing in consumer electronics with a focus on product architecture.
  • Experience with the development and integration of electro-mechanical components including OLED display, battery, camera, and PCB among others.
  • Experience with materials including, metals, polymers, elastomers, adhesives and brittles.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Validating new designs beginning with Icepak steady state and transient simulation, system thermal testing and, ultimately, correlation to test.
  • Building and executing high-quality system simulation models to evaluate thermal behavior of candidate designs with a goal to making them viable to productize.
  • Driving the design and understanding of new materials and thermal mitigation strategies in partnership with the Material Science and Engineering (MSE) team as well as the NPI team.
  • Designing and performing sensitivity studies to quickly and conclusively understand key design variables.
  • Closely collaborating with new product introduction (NPI) teams to create new simulation approaches and processes supporting continued design evolution during NPI.
