How you will contribute to our National Security and Defense mission:

The Senior Systems Software Engineer will provide technical support and advice on current and future activities including AFLCMC Program Office studies and initiatives for critical survivability enablers. You will review, advise, and shape Program Office program initiatives, studies, demonstrations, and programs to meet current and future USAF critical capability needs. You will be focused on software engineering development, integration, and test development and must have a strong background in software development processes and the ability to evaluates current software applications technical maturity. You will provide the Program Office the ability to review defense contractor software driven hardware architectures, platform resources, and system performance requirements and determine feasibility of integrating new, third-party software applications to provide additional capability.

Responsibilities

You must have experience to independently execute the following software and systems engineering support tasks:
* Support assessment of related Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) technology initiatives to guide investments and shape transition strategies to keep a viable technology base available to support systems development.
* Assist in developing systems engineering documents and processes for platforms and projects across the Program Office portfolio.
* Provide technical and programmatic feedback and advice; develops and presents technical briefings; and develops acquisition products and strategies in support of Program Office activities.
* Provide support for management and implementation of airworthiness, risk management, obsolescence tracking, and configuration control processes in support of the Program Office.
* Assess technical adequacy of contractor delivered reports, verify data rights acceptability, log data deliverables, and disseminate products to other government and industry stakeholders as required.
* Provides assessments of technical maturity of software applications and defines development program to mature and integrate into current software defined architectures.
* Evaluate Object Oriented Programming and microservices based software architectures.
* Evaluate and assess software containerization, orchestration, and deployment techniques and toolchains (e.g., Docker, Singularity, Kubernetes, K3S).
* Work with Open Mission Systems and other Government Reference Architectures.
* Provide excellent written and verbal communications with the ability to articulate technical ideas to stakeholders.

* Ability to independently turn ideas and concepts into tangible outcomes with minimum oversight
* Provide assessments of DevSecOps techniques and toolchains (e.g., GItlab).
* Provide advice, identify, and evaluate MBSE concepts and digital thread formation.
* Provide assessments of Linux environments and scripting.
* Provide assessments and recommendations on the use of Agile SW development practices and toolchains (e.g., Confluence, Jira).

Qualifications

Qualifications Required:
* Minimum of 10 years of relevant DoD work experience
* No less than three (3) years' experience in a SAP and/or SCI environment within the least five (5) years

Clearance Requirements:
* Must possess an active TOP SECRET security clearance, current within five years, based upon a single scope background investigation (SSBI) or SSBI periodic review and be eligible for sensitive compartmented information (SCI) and special access programs (SAP) access.

Education:
* Master of Science degree in Electrical, Software, or Computer Engineering

Desired skills:
* Familiarity with Software Defined Radios.

* You have a passion for analyzing current software architectures and providing recommendations for improvements.
* Able to communicate clearly to other integrated product team members who are not well versed in software development processes and software defined system architectures.
* Have a passion to improve products that increase platform and aircrew survivability.
* Willing to work at a classified govt facility without immediate access to personal electronic devices with no work from home options.
* Are able to travel one to two weeks per month
