Required Skills:
Post-secondary education or a minimum of 1-3 years of related office experience.
Effective organizational and planning skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Highly effective communication skills and interpersonal relations skills to build rapport with prospective and current employees and establish community connections.
High degree of confidentiality and ability to use discreet judgment in handling confidential and/or sensitive information.
Proven ability to organize and manage a wide range of operations and programs; able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated experience in daily use of Microsoft Office programs.
Physical Requirements:
This role primarily involves extensive use of a computer and other office equipment in an office setting, with the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods. May require occasional lifting of 10 pounds.

Travel Requirements:
Regular travel between the campuses of the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University.

Job Description:
The Human Resources Department at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), benefit eligible position of Human Resources Assistant.

Under the direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the Human Resources Assistant manages all areas of CSB/SJU human resources (HR) office as well as managing special projects. In addition, the Human Resources Assistant may provide assistance to other members of the HR staff for special assignments, as needed.

Responsibilities
Human Resources Office Operations

Serve as the first point of contact for visitors and employees to the Human Resources Office.
Manage HR office communications including : mail, phone, email, etc…
Respond in a professional manner to inquiries from internal and external clientele in a timely manner.
Maintain HR internal and external websites.
Maintain staff handbook(s) in collaboration with HR staff.
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise department student employees.
Purchase, monitor, and maintain department supplies as needed.
Aid CHRO in budget management.
Prepare financial and personnel reports as needed.
Manage HR records retention, including, but not limited to: personnel and benefits files, I-9 documentation, immigration files, background checks, performance appraisals, employee change forms, Department of Transportation (DOT) driver, etc.
Special Projects
Manage special projects from all areas of the human resources department.
Oversee all aspects of HR event management to include: planning, publicizing , tracking registrations, room reservations/set-up, catering, media needs, evaluations, etc.
Assist with campus communication on behalf of the Human Resources department.
Benefits Support
Assist with benefits open enrollment, as needed.
Assist with workers compensation claim processing.
Audit benefit billings.
Collaborate with Benefit Manager to maintain intranet page and send benefit related announcements.
Other duties as assigned and needed by Benefit Manager.
Other
Serve as back up to the Talent Acquisition Coordinator, as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Human Resources Officer or Chief Operating Officer.
