Order#: NY1497756 Resident Director/Associate Producer Salary and benefits commensurate with experience ranging from $60,000-$70,000. Geva Theatre, a LORT B regional theatre in the heart of Rochester, NY with an annual operating budget of $8.5 million, seeks a talented and entrepreneurial Resident Director/Associate Producer to join its senior leadership team. Reporting to the Artistic Director, the Resident Director/Associate Producer will work on all aspects of programming and artistic producing the season, take the lead on developing non-subscription programming in the 180 seat Fielding stage, and will direct for the company. As a member of the senior management team, they will participate in big picture thinking around both daily challenges and opportunities and the institutions future. Responsibilities: The Resident Director/Associate Producer will be responsible for planning and producing non-subscription programming in Gevas 180 seat Fielding Stage, working on overall season programming, producing and casting, and directing for the company. Specific responsibilities include: Join Gevas Curation Team, also composed of the Artistic Director, Associate Artistic Director/Director of Connectivity, Literary Manager/Artistic Associate, and Artists in Residence, who work on curating Gevas programming. The Resident Director/Associate Producer will take the lead on planning additional off-subscription Fielding programming, potentially including cabaret/music series, partnerships with other organizations, work in process showings, and presenting outside productions. Work with the Artistic Director and General Manager on artistic producing the season, including putting together creative teams for each show, and liaising with directors and creative teams around their productions Organize and schedule season casting, including overseeing processes on each season production with New York based Casting Directors, and working with the Literary Manager/Artistic Associate and Education Director on local and student casting, including casting understudies. Direct at least one production each season for the company. Along with the Artistic Director, Associate Artistic Director/Director of Connectivity, and Literary Manager, the RD/AP will be one of the artistic faces of the organization, playing a leading role in welcoming people to Geva and building Gevas relationships in Rochester and beyond. Maintain relationships with artists and other theatres to keep abreast of productions, trends, opportunities for new plays, sharing productions, exciting artists, etc. Desired traits in a successful candidate: Experience in directing, producing and casting both plays and musicals, Creative thinking and an entrepreneurial approach to expanding programming in alignment with Gevas Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan Excitement for shows that connect Geva to its Rochester Communities in multiple ways Passion to bring new artists to Geva, keep up to date with best practices in producing, and willingness to travel as needed for work Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities A passion for theatre that embraces the art forms spirit of collaboration Exhibit empathy, kindness, diplomacy, and humor in the workplace Geva Theatre is dedicated to create and produce singular theatre productions and programs that serve the Rochester region and beyond, by illuminating the fullness of our many human experiences.
