We are looking for an EEG Technologist Apprentice to join our team of caregivers at our Epilepsy Center, where we are world-renowned. While in this position, you will be provided with ample opportunities to grow and expand your career. Within this position, you will receive training and instruction in performing electroencephalographic examinations and/or epilepsy monitoring. The ideal future caregiver is someone who: Has strong communication and dexterity skills. •Has an Associate’s Degree or higher and is knowledgeable with simple math. •Works well in a close-knit, team-building environment. •Can make decisive judgement under minimal supervision. •Can provide empathy and compassion in a patient-centered environment. Trainee Caregivers should become non-registered techs for 1 year, with the expectation they will become registered in EEG. Responsibilities:

  • Performs IOM monitoring and EP evaluations.
  • Performs all functions of an Registered IOM Technologist.
  • Performs functional mapping using SSEP, ECOG, and cortical stimulation.
  • Assists in documentation and mapping during micro electrode recording.
  • Performs nerve action potential recordings of peripheral nerves.
  • Provides technical support for epilepsy staff during implantation of subdural grids and SEEG. Ensures ECOG during stereotactic depth implantation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Associate's Degree in Electroneurodiagnostics or related patient care field.

Certifications:

  • Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring Certification (CNIM) with Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Complexity of Work:

  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum two years of recent experience in intraoperative monitoring.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated competency of instrumentation, testing protocols, techniques, and interventions of intraoperative monitoring and routine EP.

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity in order to place electrodes precisely and to operate recording equipment.
  • Ability to push and maneuver EEG machine weighing 200 pounds.
  • Requires normal or corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease and body fluids.
