Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant that perform direct patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or his/her licensed designee. The nursing assistant performs a variety of individualized patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comforts of patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains patient confidentiality of all clients.

Performs duties, as assigned, in an accurate and timely manner.

All procedures are performed in an accurate and timely manner as directed by facility and/or licensed designee within the scope of practice.

Safeguards the client/patient by observing appropriate infection control procedures including but not limited to universal precautions.

Notifies the supervising nurse of any abnormal findings or conditions.

Adheres to standards and procedures of Amergis Healthcare Staffing and all facilities.

Arrives at the facility on time, before the scheduled shift starts to sign-in at the nursing office and report to the floor-unit for orientation.

Represents Amergis Healthcare Staffing with a positive image at all times.

Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in meeting the needs of all facilities.

Minimum Requirements:

Prefer one year experience as a certified nursing assistant within the last three years.

Graduate from certified nursing assistant program with subsequent documentation as a certified nursing assistant per state requirements with proof of verification as being an active certification.

Knowledge of medical terminology and knowledge of clerical functions.

Current Health Certificate (per facility contract, or state regulation).

Current BLS card.

Current PPD or Chest X-Ray.

Position Summary:

As a member of the health care team, The Student Health Tech (DC Public Schools) will perform selected

tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse, and in cluster teams. They

may perform a variety of services for students after the initial evaluation and nursing care plan has been

developed by the registered nurse, which may include, but is not limited to: conducting and

documenting screening procedures such as measuring height, weight, vision and hearing, performing

data entry and other administrative tasks, etc. The CSS Student Health Technician will also recognize

deviations from normal screenings and report abnormal readings to the appropriate person.

Additionally, the Student Health Technician will rotate between schools as assigned. This position will

support cluster teams with the maintenance of current health records on all students.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

? Knowledge of medical terminology; community resources; interviewing techniques.

? Ability to communicate effectively.

? Perform various screening techniques.

? Monitor vital signs and discern deviations from the norm.

? Knowledge of basic first aid procedures and practices.

? Demonstrates sensitivity when dealing with persons with diverse cultural backgrounds.

? Proficient knowledge of computer skills.

Functional Accountabilities

Clinical Process

? Document according to school health policies and procedures (e.g. UHC, OHA, screenings,

parent/guardian notifications).

? Administer first aide, medications, and federal and district mandated screenings (e.g. hearing,

vision, height/weight).

? Obtain vital signs to include recording and monitoring and the recognition of abnormal ranges.

? Assist the nurse or student in providing specialized treatments.

? Maintain inventory or school health and first aid supplies.

? Proactively communicate with parents, students, and/or other agencies for the purpose of

promoting needed documents and/or treatments.

? Ensuring proper immunization history and verification of immunizations

? Monitor students referred for illness for the purpose of ensuring their safety and welfare

? Report incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, injury related

accidents) for the purpose of maintaining student personal safety

? Respond to emergencies for the purpose of determining and implementing appropriate actions

required to maintain health and safety of students.

? Collect information and share with nurse their observation of students with special health care

needs for inclusion into the care plan.

? Assist health office staff in completing daily health logs monitoring students requiring

immunizations and updating student health profiles.

? Assist in organizing vision and hearing screening with school nurse.

? Order health care supplies as requested by school nurse.

? Administer basic first aid and assist with providing prescribed medication to students as needed.

? Notify parents of ill or injured students and prepare accident reports as needed.

? Perform a variety of general clerical duties in support of an assigned school health office

including typing, filing, duplicating and distributing materials, coordinate flow of

communications as needed.

? Maintain cumulative files; request and track records for incoming students; maintain

confidential files; update student data as needed; secure permanent storage of student

information; update student emergency cards and input information into the Student

Information System.

? Monitor and manage student release and parent pick-up.

? Answer, screen and refer telephone calls to appropriate staff; respond to inquiries and take

messages as appropriate; receive, greet and direct visitors; respond to inquiries and provide a

variety of general information or refer to appropriate staff.

? Prepare and maintain logs, files and records in compliance with administrative guidelines and

legal requirements; maintain student cumulative files and records; review, research and verify

accuracy and completeness of various documents; prepare routine reports as directed; verify

and process forms and applications as needed.

? Prepare documents such as form letters and memos, calendars, bulletins, awards or other

materials to communicate information to students, staff or the public; assist with processing of

documents, forms, mailings and other materials and disseminate information to appropriate

personnel.

? Operate a variety of office equipment including a copier, fax machine, computer and assigned

software.

? Maintain inventory of office supplies and materials.

? Receive, sort and distribute mail; respond to e-mail as directed.

? Attend required school-wide and department in-services and trainings.

? Perform other duties as assigned.

Communication

? Utilize appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills with school age children/families

and all members of the healthcare team.

? Collaborate and coordinate with other team members in delivering health care services.

? Communicate necessary medical information in a timely manner to appropriate school

personnel, parents/guardians, and delegating school nurse while maintaining confidentiality

Patient/Family Education

? Identify ongoing education needs of school age children/families based on plan of care.
