MetroHealth Behavioral Health Specialist- Dual Diagnosis PRN Cleveland Heights in CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio

Location: Cleveland Heights Health Center

Biweekly Hours: 16.00

Summary:

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager or assigned Registered Nurse, provides various patient care duties for the behavioral health patient, including collecting behavioral data, observation and interactions, maintaining patient records, and collaborating with the treatment team regarding treatment planning and implementation. Communicates with the patient's families or guardians as directed. Continuously monitors the patient’s behavior while building positive relationships.

Qualifications:

Required: Possesses one of the following: • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or a related field. • Associate Degree in Psychology or related field and 2 years of mental health of experience or related healthcare experience. • High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of mental health experience or related healthcare experience, including facilitating group activities. Good interpersonal skills. Knowledge of group facilitation methods, psychiatric diagnostic methods, and treatment terminology. Training in Welle or obtained within 90 days of hire. Possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or obtains it within 90 days of hire. Ability to work in a team environment while demonstrating sound judgment, flexibility, initiative, and practical problem-solving skills. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, which includes the indigent, incarcerated, and homeless.

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Experience facilitating activity sessions and performing documentation of patient participation. Familiarity with computers Previous experience working with the psychiatric patient or developmentally delayed. Bilingual in Spanish

Physical Demands: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, and other hazardous waste is required. Requires some exposure to chemicals. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing (utilizing PC) Exposure to psychotic patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior.
