Join us as a Sr. Project Manager
This position is primarily responsible for a specialized role in the Americas Region focused on the Realization Phase of Novonesis’ Project Framework. The position has a high influence on the most complex and large-scale projects in the region for this phase of the project. The individual will also contribute to select projects as assigned by the Regional Director at other phases of the project. This position will work with a global organization of Engineering and Facility Services (EFS).
In this role you'll make an impact by:
- Depending on assignment, in the Realization phase, leading or assisting the project management function on major scale and complex CapEx projects in the Americas Region. Operating with a high degree of autonomy and external contractor management.
- Aligning needs of a project closure with the Regional Director, Project Execution Manager, and Project Manager of the project.
- Ensuring an effective and complete handover of the project to Operations, inclusive of all technical documentation and equipment registration.
- Resolving all punch-list items that the Project Manager delegates.
- Supporting Maintenance organizations to understand their contractual warranty rights of new installations. Providing assistance during the first year of the Realization phase for contractual claims.
- Coordinating, supervising, and directing efforts of all involved external suppliers and resources, contractors, and consultants. Championing effective feedback within the project team. Applying experience in varied technical fields to ensure a cohesive project handover with minimal gaps.
- Auditing onsite construction for safety and quality control.
- Optimizing regional handover best practices for Novonesis in the Americas Region. Developing phase checklists and clear handover processes.
- Maintaining expertise in internal Project Management standards. Continually applying these standards to their areas of responsibility to create a high level of transparency for the organization. Driving an evaluation process in the handover/realization phase of the full project to facilitate lessons-learned.
- For select projects in the Americas Region, working with project teams to identify gaps, solving tasks as directed by the Project Manager. Temporarily filling resource gaps in the region as needed.
- Staying current with new industry developments in engineering techniques, machines, equipment, materials, etc., and incorporating the innovations in the engineering function to the best advantage of the Company.
- Collaborating with other EFS colleagues to develop engineering company standards.
- Following all Company safety and sanitation regulations and providing engineering recommendations to assist area managers in reducing or eliminating employee exposure to injuries or illnesses.
- Participating in and actively leading department and cross-functional teams.
To succeed you must hold:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field and 10+ years of experience. Thorough knowledge about a multitude of engineering and technical disciplines. Experience in construction of various technical objectives in manufacturing environments.
- Experience of a minimum of 7+ years with Project Management demonstrating skills in schedule, scope and budget management. Possess result and decision oriented project management skills, have good business acumen, and have good communication skills in order to deal with customers. Experienced for many years in project management of CapEx. Recommended to have Project Management certification such as PMP.
- Experience with Maintenance organization and Handover requirements. Expert in what is ideal information to be handed over from a project to Maintenance for continued operation
- Possess strong verbal, written, communication, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Team player with project and change management experience who can easily adapt to a dynamic environment.
- Possess contract management skills in relation to suppliers, contractors and consultants. To be applied to the Handover phase. Experience with FIDIC contracts is a plus.
- Ability to work in local and global cross-functional environment.
- Experience and knowledge within a process-driven manufacturing environment is preferred. Familiar with Up/downstream processing, Drying processes, Powder handling and packaging lines, Food or Pharma facilities or Hygienic and aseptic design (CIP/SIP).
- Proficient with Microsoft Project, Excel, CAD is required.
- Must be able to keep up-to-date with new developments in plant engineering techniques, machines, equipment, materials, etc. and incorporate the innovations in the engineering functions.
- May require travel up to 40%. Willingness to support international projects is a must in geographies like Brazil.
