Pouch Machine Operator

Shifts:

1st 7am-3:30pm Mon-Fri

2nd 3pm-11:30pm Mon-Fri

3rd 11pm-7am Sun-Thurs


Position Summary:
The Pouch Machine Operator (PMO) will report directly to the Hamilton Flexible Packaging Manager and will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating our pouch machines to ensure the highest quality flexible packaging for our customers. The PMO will set-up tooling in machine (sides seals, punches, etc.) and run pouch machine to produce pouches at dimensions from customer approved template. The PMO will also be required to cross train on Lamination & Slitting equipment.


Essential Functions:
• Set up and operate the pouch machine and support equipment to form pouches of printed and clear laminated flexible films.
• Check Quality at set-up and during manufacturing process. Assure quality checks, tests, and procedures are carried out as required during the production runs.
• Sign-off on measurements for each dimension of pouch at set-up as well as testing seal strength & die line approval. Perform periodical checks during production of the same elements.
• Perform minor maintenance to machines and various equipment.
• Use hand tools effectively and appropriately.
• Read job tickets for information related to the set up and operation of the production order. Must have the ability to understand the job specifications to ensure the finished pouches meet the required expectations.
• Identify defects found in the material and communicate with the packer to cull the affected pouches.
• Responsible for quality control of pouches. Make machine adjustments as required quickly to minimize material and time waste.
• Operate within the standard operation procedures.
• Ensure equipment is running with all safety equipment operational in a safe condition.
• Perform other duties as assigned in the Flexible Packaging Cell on other pieces of equipment.


Qualifications:
• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Previous Pouch Converting industry experience is a plus.
• Must be able to stand for most of the shift.
• Must be able to perform well under deadline constraints.
• Must be detail oriented and have excellent, quality driven work habits.
• Previous machine operation experience is a plus.
• Must have mechanical ability and be able to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull finished rolls up to 50lbs.
• Must be a team player and work well with others.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Knowledge of measuring tools.
• Must be willing to cross train on Lamination & Slitting Equipment.
