Job Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled psychiatrist to join our team in providing high-quality mental health care to patients in a medical hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety, psychotic disorders, and more. The individual will be able to work competently and collaboratively in a medical setting. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations to assess mental health conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Diagnose and treat a range of mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and others.
  • Provide brief supportive counseling.
  • Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, ensuring safe and effective use.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including social workers, and medical staff, to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support in emergency situations.
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and wellness strategies.
  • Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and continuous professional development activities.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of psychiatric residency program.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry.
  • Active medical license in the state of New York (or eligibility to obtain one).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in clinical psychiatric practice, including inpatient, outpatient, and medical hospital settings.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.

Preferred Skills:

  • Subspecialty training or interest in areas such as consultation-liaison psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, addiction medicine, or forensic psychiatry.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.

Knowledge of telepsychiatry practices.
