Baylor Scott & White Health PT Chaplain 1 - Day Shift in Mckinney, Texas
JOB SUMMARY
Our ideal candidate will be a Board Certified Chaplain who is at ease with change, highly adaptable, and have a sense of humor and humility, as these traits are needed to best serve our Level 2 Trauma program as well as our staff caregivers, patients, and families of our diverse, fast-growing emergency, critical care, trauma, ortho, oncology, and women's services lines. Ideally, this candidate will work one weekend and one weekday shift per week, working opposite other team members, attend weekly staff meetings (virtually), and participate in clinical meetings as scheduled. Rotating regular weekend coverage required. Occasional call duty is needed. If on call, candidates must be available to be onsite within 30 minutes from the time of an activation for death, code blue, trauma 1 etc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Organizes, promotes, and conducts religious services for patients, their families and staff including weekly worship, memorial services, baptisms, weddings, anointing and coordinating bereavement needs
Provides counseling and other spiritual education activities for employees, students, and patients
Supports the end-of-life care for patients by offering pastoral support and counseling to patients and families
Partners with physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, and ancillary staff as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team in assessing patient needs and to improve patient care
Conducts a pastoral assessment of a patient's spiritual and emotional status and the need for spiritual care
Develops relationships with local churches, community agencies and service organizations which supports the Baylor Scott & White Health community
Documents and maintains records of spiritual counseling for patients
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Knowledge of philosophical systems and religions
Knowledge of the methods and methods of pastoral care and the role of a chaplain in an institutional setting
Knowledge of the religious beliefs and practices of various faiths, groups, and denominations
Verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional listening skills
Skill in counseling patients, family members and staff
Ability to counsel people during periods of stress
Ability to passionately participate as a member of a professional therapeutic team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION - Bachelor's
EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Cln Pastoral Education (CPE-U): One unit of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) preferred or obtain CPE within 18 months required.
