Job Description

Under the direction of the Head Start & Early Head Start Education Director, has responsibility for the daily oversight of center operations, including assurance of compliance with Head Start Performance standards, EEC Licensing regulations & standards established to ensure a high-quality program. This position also has an oversight of facility health & safety standards & works with facility staff to ensure compliance.

At least one-year experience in one of the following areas:
Early childhood education, child health, mental health, or fields of disabilities services
At least one-year experience as a preschool or infant/toddler teacher or supervisor.
Two years? related experience preferred as a coordinator or supervisor of childcare programs.
Two years? demonstrated experience in budget management, staff supervision, & training & program development.
Prefer experience with Head Start.
Experience with connecting to community resources & parent involvement in early ed programs.
Experience with early education licensing standards as well as standards of other regulatory bodies preferred.
Experience with Developmentally Appropriate Practice, cultural diversity, & inclusion.
Experience working in Bilingual settings (Spanish/English) preferred.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in child development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Guidance, Human Services, Nursing, Psychology, Physical Education, Recreation, Child Psychology, the Arts, Social Work, Sociology, or Childcare.
Meet Massachusetts Department of Early Education & Care (EEC) requirements as a Director II & Large Group School Age Program Administrator. CPR & First Aid certifications required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Recruit, hire, train, support, schedule, supervise, evaluate & develop, staff, complying with applicable laws & regulations.
Ensure all documentation is forwarded to EHS/HS Education Director &/or human resources.
Ensure teaching staff progress towards educational requirements as mandated by the Head Start Performance Standards.
Arrange & facilitate regular meetings with staff & provide mandated training & updates to policies & procedures.
Monitor, report, & provide feedback for all employee-related accidents.
Monitor, evaluate & provide training of classroom volunteers.
Ensure program compliance with codes of all state & local licensing agencies & grant requirements.
Attend case management meetings, consultations, & staff meetings as necessary.
Observe children & provide suggestions for behavior management & education programming to meet the individual needs of all children.
Monitor home visiting component.
Monitor & manage center inventory, financial operations, annual budgets. Assist with budget development.
Arrange for services in all functional areas, utilizing internal & external resources to provide medical, social, mental health, educational, & special services as deemed appropriate, as well as facility maintenance.
Monitor & manage the maintenance & safety of facilities & availability of supplies. Request facility maintenance/repairs in a timely fashion & communicate critical needs immediately.
