Position Summary | The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and the Institute of Genomic Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine is looking for a talented Postdoctoral Fellow in Statistical Genetics/Genetic Epidemiology. This Postdoctoral Fellow position will be funded through the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative with Morehouse School of Medicine and the selected fellow will participate in a translational research project. This position focuses on the analysis and interpretation of genotype and sequence data from African descent patient samples, with the goal of generating the knowledge to provide improved insight on predictive ancestral risk variants, risk assessment and stratification, and improved prognosis and improved outcomes in this population. Under the supervision of the Assistant Professor, the Postdoctoral Fellow will perform a variety of research analyses in collaboration with an academic supervisor, making innovative contributions that may be translated to in vitro discovery and validation in the laboratory. The Postdoctoral Fellow in this position will consult with Assistant Professor on the scope and plan of approach to a research project; reads abstracts and articles; organizes and plans techniques; contributes original ideas to genomic analysis and prepares written reports of laboratory experimental methods and analyses. Skills used in the lab include analyses of large genomic datasets using established statistical genetic methods, development of novel methods for analysis of family genomic studies and bioinformatics. Excellent organization, work presentation (in the form of written reports), and communication skills are required. |

Immunization Requirements | It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination. |
