Job Description

A client of Insight Global is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join their Austin, TX team. This role is responsible for investigating and analyzing the properties of soil and rock to determine their suitability for construction projects. This individual will be managing project, external stakeholder relationships, providing mentorship and assistance to the department leader. Their work involves preparing detailed reports and drawings, providing recommendations for foundation design, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Required Skills & Experience

· Bachelors degree within civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, soil mechanics, or any related field.
· Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience within geotechnical engineering.
· Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a registered Professional Engineering
· Minimum of 2 years of experience as a project manager in which has managed a project from beginning to end.
· Strong communication skills to mentor younger professionals such as EITs, demonstrate and maintain a leadership mentality and demeanor amongst the team/Austin office.
· Manage external stakeholder relations and cultivate business partnerships

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Nice to have requirements:
· Masters degree within civil engineering, geotechnical, or any specified related field.
· Prior leadership experience managing a team of EITs
· Robust softwire experience: Slide, LPile, APILE, TxDOT software - FHWA

Day-to-day responsibilities:
· Conducting site visits to collect soil and rock samples.
· Performing laboratory tests to determine soil properties and behavior.
· Analyzing test data and preparing detailed geotechnical reports.
· Designing foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical structures.
· Using geotechnical software to model soil behavior and predict performance.
· Collaborating with civil engineers, architects, and construction teams.
· Project management responsibilities including but not limited to: (1) monitoring construction sites to ensure compliance with geotechnical recommendations, (2) managing external relationships, (3) project finances, (4) project timeline, (5) QA/QC - compliance, (6) project successful execution, etc.
· Reviewing and approving project plans and specifications.
· Providing technical support and solutions for geotechnical issues during construction.
· Ensuring all work complies with safety and environmental regulations.
· Provide mentorship, coaching and leadership insight to less tenured employees.
