Job Description:
Core Publishing Solutions (CPS) is one of the largest book manufacturing facilities in the country. We utilize both digital and conventional offset printing to produce over 30 million hardbound, softbound and loose-leaf books annually. Our operation is a full service including a large warehouse where over 80,000 titles are stored, fulfilled and managed.CPS services Thomson Reuters' Global Print business for Legal & Tax titles, as well as a wide variety of Commercial book publishers and brokers. We are looking for an experienced manufacturing manager to lead operations for one or more of our operational areas including Pre-Press, Press, Bindery, Order Fulfillment, Distribution, and Raw Materials Receiving & Warehousing.

About the Role
In this opportunity as an Operations Manager, your responsibilities will be to:
Support the 100% safe strategy by demonstrating a leadership commitment to our safety program, empowering the team to ensure safe behaviors in all activities, and recognizing success.
Organize, develop and direct the activities of a 3-shift operation across two major departmental areas. This role provides leadership to production supervisor(s), who have full-time production staff and additional contract labor reporting to them.
Develop talent & skill depth by carefully analyzing needs and creating tailored training plans with timelines.
Effectively manage talent by providing training, recognition, coaching, regular feedback, and performance reviews.
Lead hiring activities to maintain optimal staffing in each area, aligned with budget plans.
Champion Lean manufacturing operation model. Identify and champion top opportunities for Kaizen events/improvements. Drive standardization & improvement initiatives that establish the safest, highest quality, and most efficient production processes.
Oversee job evaluation, salary administration, promotion, discipline, and other performance-related matters.
Support our sales & customer account management teams in their interactions with our current & future customers.
Leverage business system information to provide updates on efficiency, productivity, and opportunities for improvement. Ensure all SLA's and Quality expectations are met. Lead optimization activities that minimize expenses while optimizing service that is aligned to customer expectations.
Lead Tier Operations Model for responsible departments.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement to improve efficiency and customer experience.
Optimize the use of WMS (SAP) for efficiency & accuracy
Maintain, build, and modify processes to sustain or improve workflow
About You
You're a fit for the role of Operations Manager if your background includes:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced education and demonstrated work experience
6+ years of progressive leadership experience, including experience leading supervisors
Experience leading in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of book manufacturing operations, processes, workflow and financial impacts strongly preferred
Willingness to develop skill & acumen through rotational opportunities in other Global Print manufacturing, supply chain, fulfillment and customer facing operations
Knowledge of SAP and business system operations strongly preferred
Experience managing transportation and related carriers
Excellent communication skills, leadership and analytical skills
Ability to build relationships at all levels, establish person credibility and demonstrate expertise to earn a place as a valued business partner
Driven to achieve results and able to work independently as well as in a team and matrixed environment
Demonstrated ability to motivate people, address and resolve difficult situations and share knowledge.
Intermediate to strong computer skills, including MS Office products
Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to support a multi-shift operation
